MIACALCIN Nasal Spray In the treatment of many patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis…

MIACALCIN® (calcitonin-salmon) Nasal Spray is an effective therapy…

Because It Works

Stops bone loss and significantly increases bone mineral density

No serious drug-related GI or menopausal side effects

Just one spray, once a day—anytime, anywhere

Because It's Safe, Convenient, and Tolerable for Many Patients

With GI problems

With limited mobility

With renal impairment

Taking multiple medications

Who are unable to follow complicated daily or weekly dosing instructions

MIACALCIN Nasal Spray is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women greater than 5 years postmenopause with low bone mass who refuse or cannot tolerate estrogens, or in whom estrogens are contraindicated. Patients should ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake.

Rhinitis, other nasal symptoms, back pain, arthralgia, epistaxis, and headache were the most common adverse events. Because calcitonin-salmon is a protein, the potential for a systemic allergic reaction exists. In rare cases, nasal ulcerations were reported that required temporary discontinuation of therapy until healing occurred.
