The recommended dose of MIACALCIN Nasal Spray in postmenopausal osteoporotic females is 200 IU per day administered intranasally, in alternate nostrils daily. Use of MIACALCIN Nasal Spray is recommended in conjunction with an adequate calcium (at least 1000 mg elemental calcium per day) and vitamin D (400 IU per day) intake.
How Supplied
Available as a metered-dose solution in 3.7-mL fill glass bottles. It is available in a dosage strength of 200 IU per activation (0.09 mL/spray). Screw-on pumps are provided. The pumps, following priming, will deliver 0.09 mL of solution. MIACALCIN Nasal Spray contains 2200 IU/mL calcitonin-salmon and is provided in individual boxes containing 1 glass bottle and 1 screw-on pump (NDC 0078-0311-54).
Assembly and Usage Instructions

Remove bottle from the refrigerator and allow it to reach room temperature.

Keeping the bottle upright, remove the rubber stopper from the bottle.

Holding the pump unit, remove the opaque plastic protective cap from the bottom of the unit.
Note: Do not depress pump when it is not attached to the bottle.

Holding the bottle upright, insert the nasal spray pump unit into the bottle.
Turn the pump clockwise and tighten it until it is securely fastened to the bottle.

Holding the bottle upright with the index finger on top of 1 of the 2 side arms of the pump, gently remove the clear protective cap from the top of the nozzle.

Prime a New Bottle Only Once
Hold the bottle upright with the index fingers on the 2 side arms of the pump and the thumb on the bottom of the bottle.
Press the arms down fully until there is a full spray. The nasal spray is now ready for use.
There is no need to prime the bottle again; this will waste the medication.

Just One Spray, Once a Day in Alternate Nostrils
Patient should keep head upright and carefully place the nozzle in 1 nostril, tilting the bottle until it is in a straight line with the nasal passage.
Press firmly down on the pump once to spray the medication into the nose.
It is not necessary to inhale.
